We Want Bootsy!

Mike and I went to the Independent is SF to see Bootsy. I was slightly annoyed because he went on an hour late. I can forgive a half hour but an hour late with a $50 ticket price is a little much. But Bootsy did not disappoint.

His rig was huge I think there were 5 ampeg 8x10 fridge cabinets. Thats 40 10inch speakers pumping bass plus the main PA. You'll also notice there are two bass players. Bootsy would just play licks and the other guy would lay down the lines. Or play the tunes while Bootsy changed costumes.

It was so damn funky especially Bootzilla. So killer.

He also came out in the audience to touch the audience. Bootsy came right up to me while making his way through the crowd and gave me a hug and we proceeded to give up the funk.

This picture is him on the bar at the back of the venue. An amazing experience that I'm so glad I got to have.

Caroling Again

I went out caroling with Mobility this year to resume my role as dancing monkey.

In usual fashion the trip was long and got a little silly. So in the season of traditions I bring you my new tradition. Elevator Music

I'm trying to rotate these but youtube is not taking hopefully it will work.

Paul misses the assignment in Germany. How can someone be that sad in a santa hat?

Downtown Disney. This was a fun gig. The disney folks had double booked the stage so we setup once and then had to move it all. Still pretty painless. Fun gig and great to see Melissa from Disney who has been our sponsor forever.

Preparing for a parade gig. We got shoved on the back of a tow truck for this one. Can you see the joy on my face?

About to roll. Mark is fully prepared for Xmas rocking.

On our last day of caroling on Edwards AFB. We spotted a wheelbarrow designed to haul one thing and one thing only. Its nice to see it used for the intended purpose.

Happy Holidays and blar, blar, blar,

That's right this is the big time. Also Xmas isn't complete without Eddy K singing Christmas time in Vacaville.

Hawaii Videos

Videos from the Hawaii trip.

Hawaii

Mel and I went on a trip to Hawaii. I was going to make a Loogle video but I'm still 50 posts from my 700 mark. So perhaps I'll do something else around that time.

This was a very interesting trip. Namely the hotel we stayed in was so dumpy. We got in and found no soap or shampoo and only a half roll of toilet paper. I went down to the front desk the next morning and asked for toilet paper and towels. They told me we had to provide our own. OK this was odd but can be dealt with.

A few days later Mel woke up with bed bug bites. We quickly moved rooms and washed and bagged everything to prevent those fuckers from hitching a ride home.

Then when returning the rental car I forgot to gas it up. We were against the wire for time so I attempted to find a gas station but google maps let me astray. I ended up having to pay the $7.50 a gallon price. (Beyond Thunderdome prices)

We were then late getting to the terminal and the woman behind the desk was checking us in and then said she couldn't get us on the flight. The only option we had to fly home was to pay for a first class ticket on the LA to Sacramento part of our flight. For an additional $800. Also we had to rent another car and stay another night in a hotel. So trying to avoid a $40 fee for gas I ended up out $1000+

Good decisions Lou!!!

Anyway enough with the bad. We had a great time. I think we spent most of the vacation in the water.

ESPN Gig

My friend Bryan got me on the list to work some football games with ESPN. I had the best seat in the house and could hear everything from my giant microphone. I don't really like football but this was fun.

 What was that?

I'm the guy on the lower left side of the screen with the blue ESPN vest on.

LA Marathon

24 Oct 2012 @ Downtown LA

Loaded in at 6am. The best show we could have played as the audience didn't stick around longer than about 30 seconds as they ran by. Unless they were homeless, then they stuck around danced and slept in front of the stage.

We went out that night and played Hipster or Homeless. Which I'm looking forward to playing at the NAMM show in January.
Check out these hipsters,

Red Ribbon Week

It's that time of year again. Time for the band to go out and tell kids to stay off drugs and follow their dreams.
Ironic it's coming from us. Here are some shots from my seat. From the whole week of early morning rocking.

Here is Paul and Mark trying to work out some rock moves by tapping out the riff on each others instrument.

A lunch break at the Squeeze Inn in Vacaville. The squeeze burger was awesome and took at least a year off my life. Yes that is a cheese skirt on the burger.

Here we are driving the truck home. The registration card blew out the window. Paul and I turned around and walked up and down the 2 lane road. Amazingly Paul found it.
And the final photo posted on the bands website shows the back of my head and my tiny sound/light operator area. And one girl really getting down.
You too can have this kind of life if you follow your dreams.
