Epic Adventure Saturday

I decided to participate in some events around the bay area for no real reason but adventure lust.

I started at the Warrior Dash. This is a 3 mile run with obstacles like jumping over fire, leaping over cars and diving through mud pits. I mounted my flip video camera to try and make a Loogle episode 3 but it didn't survive the mud bath. I got footage but I don't think it'll ever work again. You're not missing anything other than my heavy breathing. (If you're missing that)

They give you a warrior helmet.

It fits me well I think.

I had a shirtless muddy photo of myself but decided not to post it. (Hopefully you're not missing this either)

Where normally this would satisfy my adventure lust I pushed for more. So I took a hobo bath under a fire hose to look somewhat presentable.

I headed to San Francisco to play Journey to the end of the night. It's a street game where you have to get to check point before getting caught by a chaser. Basically a zombie game but the zombies can really haul ass.

There were like 400-500 people.

We met up near the bay right under the bay bridge.

You're given a map and two ribbons.

A blue ribbon around your arm means you're a runner and still in the game. A red one means you've been turned and have become a chaser.

I made it to the first check point in Chinatown. Running with 200+ people across Market street in SF was quite an experience. I outran the first chaser after me and made it to the safe zone and got my first stamp.

I stuck to the alley ways and avoided people. I was a block and a half from the next checkpoint, which was all uphill by the way. I came out from an alley and one of the main chasers had just tagged like 10 people. They had just tied on their red ribbons and were pining for their first victim.

My eyes got large and I let out an, "Oh FUCK!!!!" I booked back down the hill trying to outrun the horde after me. Unfortunately I fell victim to them.

I tied on my red ribbon and headed back toward my car as I had been running all day and was ready to head home. I did however camp out for a little while and claim some victims of my own.

5 people fell prey to the zombie Lou.

I can't wait until this comes around again.

The kids were so loud on this gig.

I peaked at 106db. I usually mix at 95db. My ears were distorting when they would scream.

Loogle Number 2!!!!!

I got a new phone. (Showing off a little) It's really sweet. It has a lot of great camera features including really good video.

So I take it out geocaching and took plenty of pictures and video along the way. I then got the idea to put this all into Loogle #2: Geocaching.

I had to use the house gear which was hodge podge at best but it worked.

LS9 Repairs

So my small LS9 took a hit and the buttons were smashed into the console. So I took it apart and proceeded to fix it.

Here is the panel that took the beating.

It actually cracked and the printed circuit lines weren't making contact.

I scratched off the green coating to expose the metal.

I then re-soldered some band aids across the broken circuits.

Once it was all put back together it worked great. It's still a little fragile but it will keep it working until the replacement part comes in.

Vandenburg Trip

I just got back from a trip down south to Vandenburg AFB. It wasn't terribly exciting. I did make it to the firestone brewery. Which never disappoints. I have their DBA in my kegerator right now.

I also had my favorite breakfast two days in a row. The chorizo and egg scramble. Such awesomeness was found at Kay's country kitchen in Orcutt CA. Good food, pretty waitstaff, hot coffee. Is there a better way to have breakfast. I challenge that there is not. Chorizo you are so good to/for me.

I also procured a growler from firestone that will be useful in transporting Keg-Hammer joy outside the house.

The Answer

Once again the answer has been handed to me. Well in this case Alex at a Carl's Jr. (Hardee's for my east coast readers)

I know that it's just me fixating on the number but it seems to come up a lot.

I haven't had the ultimate question come up too often though.

KEG-HAMMER!!!

Alright this kegerator is dangerous.

First having cold beer on tap makes drinking it with little to no obstacle almost impossible to resist.

Second Having a cool tap handle just makes me want to pour beers.

Anyway Mike and I have had a rule at the house where one must yell "Beer-Hammer" when opening a beer with the bottle opener that Mel gave me last Christmas. So we took it to the next level and attached it to the tap handle and keg-hammer was born.

So now we yell "KEG-HAMMER!"

I saw this after about my 3rd visit to the MPF building on base while procuring my enlistment extension. (That's right the AF has me for another 4 months. I worked out a pretty good contract)

Anyway I have to wonder who designed this sign and why no one but me has noticed it.

Random Shoe

I was out walking Phoenix and saw this. Now a shoe on the side of the road around my neighborhood is really not out of place. However this lady's heel seemed placed there. It's as if the steel plate is the platform and it's being presented. Or maybe some drunk lady threw out of her car for some unknown reason and this is how it landed.

I'm more vexed by this than I should be.
