Random Adventure

As always whenever I'm not in search of something interesting, something interesting finds me.

Mel and I were out for dinner in Vacaville and went to have a drink before hand. WE start at a bar called Cheers. Now mind you this is around 6pm. The bar is empty and there is sad country music playing. We have one drink and Mel says to me, "This is depressing" So we head on for dinner.

I was hoping to find something entertaining beyond just dinner and drinks. We randomly duck into the creekside bar. I'm thinking it will be just another bar but lo and behold here comes interesting.

It turns out that the monthly meeting of the Solano County accordion club was having their meeting that very night. So we were entertained with a barrage of accordion music. Including a high school kid doing pop tunes on his accordion while rapping. Amazing to say the least.

I love it when random things find me and make my day.

Santa Cruz etc.

So since I've been single for the last several months I decided to do the online dating thing so I might meet some new people. Fortunately I'm not as awkward and weird when I have time to think about what I'm saying. (At least I think so)

Anyway I met Mel recently and she hopefully doesn't seem to find me too weird or has a high tolerance. We decided to go on a short trip to Santa Cruz and see some friends of hers and enjoy the town. The first stop the Aquarium and Discovery museum.

It was a nice spot. The aquarium was a little small but pretty cool. Their big thing was a giant whale skeleton. It was really cool. They had strung up rope lights all around it but I didn't get a chance to see it at night. Behind the museum was an amazing view of the ocean. It was a good 50 feet up and a sharp cliff face drop off. Of course what do I think to do but see if there are any geocaches in the area. There were! I found a rather large one with a lot of little sculptures and trinkets. I didn't want to take any of it but it was a great cache and a very cool spot. Mel checked out the cache but I don't think she was terribly interested.

Next stop was some friends of Mel's. Very cool people and very inviting. This was a quick stop before we headed to another fiends house. We were only planning to stay for an hour or so and ended up killing the rest of the evening there. Again very kind people that fed me and were great company.

The next morning we were heading out to meet another person she knew and hang out at the beach. I was hungry for some breakfast. I was going to grab something to go like an egg sandwich or breakfast burrito. The first place I looked was a sit down cafe. Looked great but not what I needed. My next stop was the Chill Out Cafe. I hoped for a tasty breakfast and the universe smiled upon me and delivered a menu consisting of 20+ different burritos!!! I had the most amazing breakfast. They made it extra fatty as well. These were their words not mine as well. Amazing.

So as I devour my sweet mana we head to the beach. The view was again amazing. A gorgeous day in November in Santa Cruz.

Mel suggested we drive up the coast on the way back through San Francisco. So much beautiful coast line. I can't believe I hadn't seen it yet. I didn't take too many pictures of it but here's one at a beach sign.

Of course my trip and blog post wouldn't be complete without some kind of goofy observation. I won't disappoint. Some people can't spell. And restroom is actually two words.

The Widow At My House

I spotted this one outside my house just crawling along the wall. Again the quarter is for size. She was a big mother.
