Birthday cake!

I just got back from Nate and Heather's house in Benicia. I was overwhelmed with friends that I was blinded to.

Let me back up.

I'll start from yesterday the 14th (My actual birthday.) I was having an average birthday. I don't get too excited about it and I don't need to make a big deal. Jason and Brandon went to my favorite mexican restaurant with me and I had a delicious chorizo burrito. It was great.

Then Nate called me from Ohio where he and Heather were on vacation. They were flying home with a crib and didn't have a way to get it home. To which I was more than happy to help. So I go by and grab the crib and run it to my house for storage. During the drive I decided to go out and have a drink later when I get home.

So I get home and head out to Ms. Darla's around the corner in Vacaville. I like this bar as it's usually quiet(er) and not overly crowded. I picked an interesting night to go. I arrive and get a beer and sit down to take in the karaoke madness. A nice woman sits next to me and we start talking. Apparently there is another birthday party that's been happening for the past 4 hours. They are all a bit crunkled. So the whole entourage rolls over to my quiet corner. More madness/awkwardness ensues until later when a cake is brought out.

This is no ordinary cake mind you but a "tit cake" It looked like it was baked in two bowls. Iced flesh color along with frosting nipples. I know you know where this went. The birthday guy (not me) gets his face shoved in it. After the mess they make, one of the other drunken girls decides to give a small cake wad splat to the face of all the other patrons at the bar, including myself.

At this point I call it a night. Another uneventful birthday in the bag.

The next morning I needed to make a run down to fry's in Concord so I save Nate a trip up to collect his crib and run it by. After I leave Nate calls up and says he's having a cook-out later. I roll by later and Heather and Nate have prepared sweet burger deliciousness and there is much fellowship with Brandon, and the Drabeks and their adorable daughter.

At this point Brandon bring out a cake he had procured.
Who knew I had friends that would do something like this for me.
As many of you may know I've been having a particularly shitty run of things lately. It really made me smile and realize the awesome people I know in my life. What more could I really ask for?

Alright I'm done baring my feelings and soul (for now?). I'll go back to being the surly Lou you all know and love,

P.S. The cookie was not an Oreo but a Tuxedo brand cookie

San Diego Geocaching

I did a bit of geocaching around San Diego. Which by the way is a really cool city. I am really enjoying the vibe around here.

Anyway one of the caches was on top of a parking garage and I wanted to share the view.

It's so hot. Milk was a bad choice.

Validation!

On the road

I'm currently on the road with Mobility. It has been an interesting few days.

When we arrived in Las vegas the airline (United) lost my bag. So I had to do some sink laundry for a day or two. I still haven't got my bag back. They are going to pay for all the stuff I bought to get through the rest of this trip.

So on to the more interesting things.

We went out to the strip on our usual tallboy adventure. When we heard bass jams coming from the distance. This guy was ripping on his bass. Very cool stuff although probably is only interesting to bass geeks.

The next day we played a gig in the casino where we were staying. This was another short 15min award ceremony gig. What made it unique was the long push. It felt like a half mile. So rather than do a ton of back and forth trips we pushed all the cases we needed together and started a huge case train. pushing 25+ cases all at the same time. Ridickles!

Also random photo from backstage. Nate takes care of business before the gig.

While in vegas I had to play some penny slots. Specifically the monopoly party train machine. Usually I never win on these things but this time I hit it big. $85! You could not stop that party train from rolling.

Onward to San Diego,
