Geocaching First Time Find!!!!

I was out geocaching in Eugene OR. I saw some cool old victorian houses and other rainy attractions. Like the old train station.

Anyway while geocaching I happened upon a brand new cache that had been placed I think the same day. I was excited to be the first one to find it. EVAH!!!

It was outside a bike shop in an old bike that had ivy growing all over it.
Hopefully the log will last a long time and others will see my name as the FTF.

I Know When I'm Not Welcome

Does this really need to be said. I guess the tweaker population is running rampant in Oregon. Shocker there I know.

Tree Trimming Is Free

I spotted this on the gig we had recently in Antioch. I wasn't driving the truck as it was a concert band gig. I felt a lot better knowing that the professional drivers still drive like a bull in a china shop. Of course I don't think they've wrecked the truck like I have on occasion but I'm sure I'd be surprised as well.

I guess some places a truck wasn't meant to go. Or the branches don't belong.

Visitor

There was a black widow found in the Mobility practice room. Sherry caught him in this CD spindle.

It was suggested that we kill the spider but I couldn't do it. So I put her outside. I can't imagine that she'll make her way back inside. Right?

How appropriate a creepy spider show up close to Halloween.

Blog Worthy

My friend Mike was recently doing a gig in vegas and he got bumped from his hotel room. So they upgraded him to a killer suite. I really feel bad for Mike that he had to suffer this way.

Mike sent me this stuff over email and asked if it was blog worthy. I don't normally like having an editor over me but then he put this (video) on top to make it so I couldn't resist putting it on my blog.

I never would have a need for a remote control toilet but now I want one.
Thanks Mike,

Oregon Views

I'm on the road in Oregon. I haven't played a gig yet but I did get a chance to go geocaching.

I really struck out today. I only found 1 out of 10. Fortunately I did get to see some cool views around town.

Including the narrowest stairs I've ever seen.

Enjoy.

Beer Cave

I think Jill has frozen solid. What an odd position to hold while freezing.

Gig

I'm going to try another new thing to entertain myself with this blog. So I'm starting a gig blog.

Just a picture from my house position toward the stage.

Failing English

I usually notice bad grammar and spelling. For some reason it is happening more and more. So this time I wanted to appreciate some one using the proper spelling of the word through as opposed to thru.

I know I'm guilty of using both but thank you person who made this sign. You are not contributing to our loss of language.

Upcoming Tour

I'm currently on the road so obviously I'm blogging more.

We played a local gig and were set to leave the next morning. So everybody is packed up and ready so the hang begins.

Ryan and Brandon came over and we drank many beers and watched some of the office. A good time was had by all. Here is Brandon in the aftermath.

I was so tempted to draw penises on his face with a sharpie but I resisted.

Hard At Work

There was a NAF Sale on base. Don't ask me what it stands for. They were selling a bunch of old furniture and things from the hotel on base.

I didn't find anything really worthwhile. But on the way back I was riding with Jon and Ryan. They wanted to scope out a bike in the lemon lot. It was a cool bike and if I was in the market for one this would be the one I would buy.

Anyway I just wanted to share this picture.

Easy Star

I went to see Easy Star All Stars at slim's in SF recently. I had gone to see them before after their Sgt. Pepper's album came out. They played a good set but it wasn't nearly as good as the last time they were here. Maybe it was just me and the beers I was drinking.

I did however get to talk to their FOH guy and he showed me how he made all the dub magic. It was mostly an ableton rig on his laptop. It was incredibly complex but seemed easy to "play" The control surface became almost an instrument and really added to the sound of the dub all stars.

If interested you can check out the album on my server.

Self Aid Buddy Care

I had to do some annual training at work. This was the Self Aid Buddy Care training. It's meant to be field medical treatment to save you and your buddy's life.

Fortunately for me my buddy was Jon Ruff

I had a massive head wound and he was there to save me.

I'm saved,

My Latest Project

As many of you may know Julia has moved out. Hence I've been left to geek out unchecked. Behold my latest project.

I've redone my living room into a home theater. I was planning to buy a new tv but decided to do something crazy and amazing.

I found some cheap remote control dimmers on clearance at the hardware store. I was planning to get a new dimmer for the bathroom so I bought two. I was curious if my universal remote could learn the remote code for the dimmer. It could!

So I proceeded to crawl around my attic and install recessed lighting. Totally remote controlled.

I then ordered a screen from my friend Jeremy at Ken's Pro Sound. Best Buy had the projector I had spec'ed out on clearance. Bonus!

So after spending some of the hottest days for September in my attic, pulling wire and installing outlets, it was finished.

So with Plex as my central movie server. A killer surround sound system and a 106" screen movies never looked so good. That's me in the lower right corner.
