Deployment Day 3

I had to go get the small pox vacine. Awful. They had exempted me for my shot records. But now I hope I'm clear to
get my vaccinne. It's an interesting needle/ fork that is stuck in your arm to infect you with small pox.
It was like getting a very slow tattoo. (painful yet quick)

I went to snap a picture for the blog to talk about small pox and i ended up catching Preston
picking his nose.

We had our first rehearsal. It was a bit rough. We all haven't played the rock show in quite a while and I know everyone is rusty.
But I think the show will go well.

This place isn't too bad. I'm hanging at the "bra" right now which is the central hang area
where the wifi hookup is. We are playing here and I hope it goes over well. I'm sure it will.

It's pretty easy to get around as well thanks to the buses that run constantly. Here's us hanging at the bus stop.

Hasta Manana,(I dont know how to get the thingy on the "n")

Deployment Day 2 and a little more 1

So I made it to Norfolk to catch the flight out. I got a chance to see my mother and my grand mother.
We had lunch and Mom gave me a bunch of snacks and such. (Thanks for the tastykakes Mom!)

So I talked about Ireland. From there we went to our final destination in Qatar.

We are all absolutely exhausted. So they have everyone who is a SrA or below (Hey That's Me!)
Get off the plane and help unload the ridiculous amount of bags that came over on the plane.
It was really warm when we got here maybe like 95 degrees at 11:30 pm.

Now that I have sweat thru my uniform we get in-processed. The bags and everything pass thru customs
and we have officially arrived.

The next day we in-process even further. In the afternoon we find ourselves at the band tent.
We are left to find the gear we need while the other band is laying down really loud guitar tracks.
Awesome!

So we all have no idea where anything is and we are left with very little help. Once we
finally get our stuff together we pack it into cases and we have to weigh and get dimensions
of all the things we want to take. I hope I have it all covered.

Our day finally comes to an end. After dinner Nate, Jon, and I and partake in our 3 beers per
day. Some how it appears as if Nate found a way to cheat the system.

A long day was had by all.

Ugh. LOU

I think this hat was more fitting. LOU

In Ireland

So I know I lost a few days and I'll try to make them up. Here is a
shot of Jon at the gift shop. I had no idea Ruff was an Irish name. LOU

Deployment Day 1

Good Morning!!!!!!
It's 1 am and my wife and I are awake and heading to Denny's.
I ended up having a lovely Moons Over My Hammy with Mel and my wife.

After "Breakfast" we headed toward the base so I could be taken by bus to the Sacramento airport.
I realized while we were driving that I had forgot to grab the bandages that I had picked up for Jon.
So we went back to the house. On the way Jul's car started making a bumping noise.
Turns out we had run over a 3 inch socket wrench extension and it was lodged in her tire.
I pulled it out as I could hear air escaping. The tire quickly blew out the rest of the air in the tire.

This is all before I even get to the base.
So my wife began transferring bags from her car to my truck. She finally dropped me off.

We load up the bus and head to the airport.
After a short nap in the terminal we board the plane. But the plane is having electrical problems.
So after a short hang on the plane we de-plane and have to book a different flight.
Also we have to pick up our bags from baggage claim as well.
I went to ask for a luggage cart from the baggage office. The lady inside hooked us up.
We didn't have to stand in line at all. It was very helpful.

So we wait for 2 hours outside for our ride down to SFO to catch our now red-eye flight.

That's right what was originally an 815 AM! departure is now a 10 PM!! departure.

I don't get to sleep in a bed until I get to the band hall in theatre. We end up hanging at the USO
at the airport which is where I'm writing this.

The last picture I have is the "honeymoon suite"
where I caught a righteous nap. Need I remind you this is only

DAY ONE!!!!!!

Phoenix At The Park: The Aftermath

Eventually I wore him out to the point were he was uninterested in the ball he was playing with and wanted to catch his breath. Here he is at that moment. Notice the huge tongue hanging out of his gaping mouth. He was exhausted. LOU

Phoenix At The Park

I took my pitbull over to the base yesterday. We usually go over to the baseball fields near the housing areas. That way he can really run and I still have a fence around him. He was so happy to be able to run wild. I had a hard time wearing him out. LOU

Hannibal Ruff or Jon Lecter

We got our military gear issued to us today. Really just a bunch of crap that I probably use at all on deployment. At least the second skin had SOME comedic value. LOU

Domo?

This is Domo. I've seen him other places before but he has become the target mascot. Nearly all of targets halloween advertising in the store has him on it. I think its cute but I'm sure hardcore Domo fans will say he soldout. LOU
